The Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza , number 9 in the world ranking, fell this Wednesday 6-3 and 6-1 against the Kazakh Elena Rybakina (n.25), champion of Wimbledon , and said goodbye to the Cincinnati tournament in its premiere.
After losing in the second round of the Toronto tournament, Garbiñe surrendered to Rybakina in an hour and a quarter of a match on court four at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
She struggled a lot with her serve again and lost it twice in her first three at-bats, which paved the way for the Kazakh to a comfortable victory in the first set (6-3).
Things got even more complicated for her in the second, in which Garbiñe never managed to hold her serve and succumbed again with a hard 6-1.
The former number 1 in the world is going through a difficult time this season, in which her best result was a quarterfinal at the Doha tournament last February.
Rybakina added the second victory of her career against Garbiñe in three precedents, after winning the Tokyo Olympics last year .
